LIbrary & Information center

Nargund College of Pharmacy has a good collection of more than 7102 books costing 55 lakhs. It also subscribes around 20 National and International pharmacy related journals and also has e-journal facilities. The library is running in 1620 Sqmt. All the books transactions are fully computerised through Lib Software. And 45 students can sit and read in the library at a time.

The library is the soul of the institution. It is a center of acquiring, processing, preserving, and disseminating information to the user community with the motto of empowering knowledge.

The NARGUND COLLEGE OF PHARMACY library established in the year 1992 has been catering to the learning needs of its students, faculty and researchers. It is one among the well-stocked college libraries with subscription to National and International journals; magazines and 10 dailies. Full automated and with a facility to 80 users at any point of time; the library is located within the college campus facilitating usage by day scholars as well as hostilities. Library is managed by the latest version of “Library Automation Software – LIBSOFT”. 

Being well equipped with all the modern facilities; access, retrieval, duplicating and printing of information; available in digital formats has been made easy. Information stored in the form of CD’s, DVD’s, Video cassettes, has also been made available.

Library Rules and Regulations

I. General Rules.
  • Presenting the ID card to librarian at the entrance to use or borrow books is compulsory.
  • ID cards are not transferable.
  • Students and Staff should enter their respective names, arrival time and date in the movement register kept at the entrance of the library. They should sign out once more when they leave. Only personal notebooks or blank sheets are allowed to be taken into the library. Personal textbooks are not allowed except with a written permission from the librarian.
  • Loud talking, discussions and any other activity that distracts attention should be avoided. The librarian is empowered to expel such members from the library premises after serving a warning. The expulsion can be permanent or for a period deemed as necessary by the librarian. Mobile phones are not allowed in the library.
  • Consumption of food and beverages is strictly prohibited inside the library.
  • Taking reading and other materials from the Library to outside without proper documentation is considered theft. When reported the management has a discretion to stop the person from accessing the library and penalize with a fine.
  • Only two books are lent to the student at any given time. The issue is valid for a period of 10 days on the completion of which the books have to be returned to the library. The issue can be renewed for a further 10 days; that is at the discretion of the librarian and the prevailing situation.
  • An Overdue Charges of Rs. 5/- day/book will be collected from users who return the books after the due date.
  • Borrowed books have to be returned to the library in good condition. In case of loss or damage to the books, borrow will have to replace the same or immediately remit two times the cost to the college account.
  • Students should essentially produce the library card to obtain no due certificate from the library. If the card has been lost or damaged a duplicate card will be issued after collecting a charge of Rs. 100/- for the new issues.
  • Request for no due certificate should be applied at least one day in advance to facilitate the librarian to go through the records before issuing the same.
  • Library remains open from Monday to Saturday between 9.00 AM to 05.00 PM. It remains closed on holidays declared by the institution.
II. Regulations governing issue of books outside the library
  • Each Student can borrow 2 books at a time and staffs are allowed to borrow up to 05 books.
  • Students/Staff should essentially sign in the issue register and in the book cards while borrowing library books.
  • Borrowed books have to be returned within 10 days and they can be renewed on due date by another 10 days only.
  • Books set aside as Reference books, Journals and Magazine will not be issued for use outside the library premises.
